Description Watoto Child Care Ministries is hiring a competent and passionate Medical Laboratory Technician. The role involves conducting laboratory tests that aid in disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention while maintaining high standards of laboratory practice, safety, and quality management. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Execute routine laboratory procedures in haematology chemistry, immunology, parasitology, and other assigned disciplines under the supervision of the Medical Laboratory Coordinator. Participate in all laboratory screening and diagnostic activities within Watoto Medical Services. Support laboratory research through proper sample handling, processing, documentation, and adherence to study protocols. Manage laboratory inventory, including supplies and reagents, to ensure continuous availability. Ensure compliance with biosafety and biosecurity standards to minimise exposure to hazardous agents. Provide advisory support on laboratory safety and environmental protection. Facilitate biosafety and biosecurity training for laboratory personnel. Monitor and record temperatures for laboratory environments, including refrigerators, freezers, incubators, and heating equipment. Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of all temperature records. Maintain optimal conditions for diagnostic testing and storage of laboratory reagents. Identify and respond promptly to temperature deviations by initiating corrective actions. Mentor and train new staff and interns to support their technical development and integration. Participate in continuous medical education to maintain up-to-date professional knowledge and skills. Promote regulatory-compliant research practices and contribute to continuous improvement in laboratory processes and methodologies. Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Talent Acquisition Solutions The applicant for the role should hold at least a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognised institution. Must be registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a laboratory setting. Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory practices, data analysis, documentation, and communication. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well with children of all ages. Passion for community healthcare and ability to work effectively in a team environment Knowledge or training in quality management systems (e.g., ISO 15189) is an added advantage
