DRC Vacancy: Protection Assistants-Prevention & Capacity Building-GBV, Rhin Camp, Uganda | UNjobs Toggle navigation Latest Duty Stations Organizations Closing Soon Protection Assistants-Prevention & Capacity Building-GBV, Rhin Camp, Uganda Organization: Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Country: Uganda Field location: Rhino Camp Office: DRC in Rhino DRC Uganda is currently looking for highly qualified and motivated individuals to join our dynamic team as Protection Assistants-Prevention and Capacity Building-Gender Based Violence-(03) The overall purpose of the role : The Protection Assistant- Prevention and Capacity Building (GBV) will facilitate community-based GBV prevention activities and strengthen the capacity of community protection structures under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader and technical guidance of the GBV Officer. The role holder will ensure that prevention messaging and community engagement activities are informed by protection risks and violations identified through response services, while strengthening safe identification and referral of survivors to appropriate services. Your main duties and responsibilities will be: Project implementation and adherence to standards Prepare and facilitate community-based GBV prevention sessions focusing on GBV risks, available lifesaving services, and safe referral pathways. Conduct awareness and dialogue sessions with community members to address harmful norms and behaviors contributing to GBV risks. Support the implementation of community engagement activities in line with DRC standards and GBV guiding principles. Collaborate with GBV case workers and WGSS staff to ensure prevention activities reflect protection risks and violations identified through response services. Promote safe identification and referral of GBV survivors through awareness sessions and engagement with community actors. Ensure prevention activities adhere to protection principles, including confidentiality, survivor safety, and do-no-harm approaches. Support participatory assessments and community consultations to identify protection concerns and inform prevention activities. Coordination and representation Work closely with community leaders, help desk workers, and other community protection structures to strengthen their role in identifying and referring GBV survivors safely. Maintain regular coordination with GBV case workers, WGSS facilitators, and other protection staff to ensure prevention activities complement response services. Liaise with community-based protection committees and local stakeholders to support implementation of GBV prevention initiatives. Participate in relevant community meetings and protection coordination activities at field level when required. Reporting Contribute to weekly, monthly, and quarterly activity reporting as required by the Protection Team Leader and GBV Officer. Provide information on community protection concerns, trends, and emerging risks identified through prevention activities to inform programme monitoring and response. Logistics and administration Plan and coordinate field movements and community sessions in accordance with DRC procedures and security guidelines. Follow all DRC procedures related to security, logistics, finance, HR, and administration when implementing project activities. Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors necessary for effective implementation of the project. Adhere to DRC's Code of Conduct and protection principles at all times. About you To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of two (2) years' experience working with vulnerable communities, basic needs and protection programming (prevention and response). Moreover, we also expect the following. Required A Bachelor's degree in Social sciences, Development studies, Community psychology, Guidance and Counseling or any related field. Professional training in Gender based violence. Basic counselling and case management skills to handle disclosures and safe referrals Experience working with UN or Non‐Governmental organizations. Proficiency in English (written and spoken). Good communication skills and ability to conduct training and awareness. Computer skills. Good self-organization and basic management skills. Familiarity with Monitoring and Evaluation for UN-funded projects. Familiarity with government adolescent life skills, positive parenting modules and para-social workers manual. Desirable Knowledge of the local languages spoken by South Soudanese and Congolese refugees' communities.
